Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Gautam buddha.Lumbinī (Sanskrit: लुम्बिनी, "the lovely") is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi district of Nepal.^[1] It is the place where Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama, who as the Buddha Gautama founded the Buddhist tradition. The Buddha lived between roughly 563 and 483 BCE. Lumbini is one of four magnets for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha, the others being at Kushinagar, Bodh Gaya and Sarnath.
This holy place is situated in the terai region of Nepal.Every year millions of Buddhist especially from eastern asia visit this land to pay their homage.This is jeruselum and mecca of the BUddhist community.Ashoka pillar marks the birth place of the Lord gautam buddha.and Nepalese people are very proud of the fact that laord buddha was born in Nepal.Not only proud but because of millions of buddhist visiting each year Nepalese government is also making a lot of money and its a great boost given the small amount of industries in Nepal.
